Riders can only compete in Showjumping or Dressage or Warrumbungle Way on Monday. Every rider can compete in Sporting.

Event times

9:00am-11:00am 12 years and 17 years 
11:00am-1:00pm 13 years and 14 years 
1:00pm - 3:00pm 15 years and 16 years 

  • This event simulates many of the tasks a stockman in the Warrumbungle Shire would face on a working day. 
  • This event will be conducted on the first part of the cross country course. Competitors will be marshalled in the warm up area of the cross country course.  There will be a course walk on Monday morning .
  • Gear: the same as allowed for sporting.
  • Expo will provide any equipment needed including whip.
  • Points will be awarded in each age group for this event.

TASKS

  1. Watering Hole (water jump) - show your horses ability to walk, trot, canter and jump into the water jump. Pick up 3 ducks from the water with a polocrosse racquet and place them in the designated area in under two minutes. Riders will be scored out of 20 for entry into water jump (riders can jump in) duck collection, horsemanship, and points will be deducted for a refusal into the water and going over the time allowed. 
  2. Saddle Up and Go (NEW) - designed to emulate a day in the life of Warrumbungle Stockman - riders will awaken in their swag, catch their (unsaddled/unbridled) horse, check feet, saddle/bridle and mount within 2 minutes. Riders will be scored out of 20 for efficiency, technique, safe handling and practice and horsemanship. Points will be deducted for going over the time allowed.
  3. Mechanical Cow - show your horse’s ability to mark a mechanical beast. Riders will be scored out of twenty for horses ability to sign onto cow and horsemanship.
  4. Freestyle - show off your special talent with your horse within 2 minutes. 20 points on originality, skill and wow factor, points will be deducted for going over the time allowed.
  5. Catch the pig - Pick the horse ball (pig) up from the ground (stirrup straps provided). Bend through bending poles and shoot the pig through the hoop, all within 2 minutes. Riders will be scored out of 20 for picking the ball up off the ground, ability to bend through the flags and shooting the hoop. Points will be deducted for missing the goals and for going over the time allowed.
